Eligibility
Requirements
- Must be a United States citizen and a
resident of the county in which you wish to register, 30
days prior to an election.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or 17 years
old and will be 18 on or before the next General
Election.
- May not currently be under conviction,
probation or parole for a felony, treason or election
bribery.
- May not have been judged mentally
incompetent in a court of competent jurisdiction.
- You must provide identification that has
your date of birth and your Monroe County address. You
will need to provide us with a physical address, not a
post office box number.
Where May I
Register To Vote
- You may register to vote at the County
Courthouse in Union, any Department of Motor Vehicle
Office, and any Government Public Assistance Agency or
by mail.
- To obtain a voter's registration
application, please call (304) 772-3096 and our office
will gladly mail you one.

Note: If you register to vote by mail you
must show proper identification the first time you go
vote.

Deadline
The last day to register to vote is twenty
(20) days prior to an election.
Outreach
Voter's Registration Services
- Each year in which an election will be held,
the County Clerk and his staff will provide outreach
voter's registration services at different locations
throughout the county. Please check the local newspaper
to find out where we will be.
- The County Clerk's Office also visits James
Monroe High School each year to provide eligible
students an opportunity to register to vote.
